Katío (Embera Katío "Mountain Dwellers" - Katío, catío, katio, embena, eyabida).
The Embera Eyabida of the Katío families are located in the department of Chocó in the municipalities of Unguía, Acandí, Riosucio, Bojayá, Bagadó, Carmen de Atrato and Quibdó.
The 2005 DANE census reported 38,259 people self-recognized as belonging to the Embera Katío people.
The Embera Katío maintain their native language, which belongs to the Chocó linguistic family.
