Eperara, saija, epená saija, epea pedée, cholo, are located in the department of Cauca, on the banks of the Saija, in the region of López de Micay, and on the Naya River in the municipality of Buenaventura, department of Valle del Cauca.
The 2005 DANE census reported 3,853 people self-recognized as belonging to the Eperara Siapidara people, whose native language is epérã pedée, or Pede, belonging to the Chocó linguistic family.
