Terminalia is characteristic of secondary forests in areas with dry season of about 4 months, but does not respond well to long periods of drought on sandy soils. Trunk large tree, up to 50 m high and 5 m thick, cylindrical, long and straight, open crown, usually flat, consisting of a few whorled branches. Leaves 5 cm long and 5 cm wide are deciduous in the dry season, flowers are produced at the end of the dry season.
