Durian is widely known and revered in Southeast Asia as the "King of Fruits", its name comes from the Malay word duri (thorn) with the suffix -an, (used to create pronouns), and resulting in "thorny fruit".
There are 30 recognized species of durian trees, all native to Southeast Asia and at least 9 of which produce edible fruit. Normally, in order to transport it, natives must kick it through the streets from the markets where it is traded to their homes, similar to kicking a soccer ball.
