May: Macaws originated in South and Central America, their natural habitat is in tropical climates and forests. They usually have a larger head and body than parrots and a much more colorful plumage. They have a fairly long hooked beak and claws with four toes, two forward and two backward, with curved nails that allow them to cling to tree branches, cage bars, or any object. They are quite noisy birds, they stand out for their intelligence, since they learn quickly; at 7 months they repeat words and at one year they can understand more or less what they are told. They have a vocabulary of about 30 words.
