The Marañon River is a river in Peru and one of the tributaries of the upper Amazon River on the Atlantic side. It rises in the southwest of the department of Huanuco in the province of Lauricocha. The confluence of the Nupe and Lauricocha rivers form the Marañon River, seen from the Gongui hill.
