Karitiana constitute one of the many groups in the State of Rondônia still little studied by anthropology. In recent years, their main battles for their physical and socio-cultural reproduction have been the demand for the expansion of their Indigenous Land and the investment in school education, as a way of reinforcing the teaching of the Karitiana language - the only remaining language of the Arikem linguistic family -, as well as the valorization of the customs and histories that make them unique as a people.
