The Misak live on the western slopes of the Cordillera Central, near the Páramos de Las Delicias and Pisno and the Cerros de Río Claro and Bujíos, in the central-eastern part of the Department of Cauca. The 2005 DANE census reported 21,085 people self-recognized as belonging to the Guambiano people.
