Magdalena (Magdalena River), also called the Grande de la Magdalena River, is a continuous watercourse in Colombia that originates in the department of Huila and flows into the Caribbean Sea.It is navigable from Honda, Tolima, to its mouth, and its main tributary is the Cauca River. Its basin occupies 24% of the country's continental territory. It includes 11 Colombian departments: Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, Antioquia, Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Caldas, Tolima and Huila, where 80% of the Colombian population lives and 85% of the national GDP is produced.
