Yucca giganteapopularly known as indoor yucca, giant yucca or elephant foot yucca, is an arborescent species of the Asparagaceae family, native to Mesoamerica. It is cultivated as a houseplant, and the petals and tender shoots are consumed as a vegetable. The izote flower or itabo is a national symbol of El Salvador. It can be considered a variety of Y. guatemalensis, but is distinguished by its stiffer, spiny-tipped leaves with white striations, and the stem with leaf bases that remain for years.
