Chavelita or vincas, are herbaceous plants with aqueous latex. Leaves opposite, oblong-elliptic to obovate-elliptic, 2 to 7 cm long and 1 to 4 cm wide. Sessile inflorescence located in the axils of the upper leaves. Flowers bisexual, purple or white, with five almost linear sepals, 2 to 3 mm long; trumpet-shaped corolla, long tube (up to 3 cm) and narrow ending in five broadly obovate lobes, 1 to 2 cm long; five stamens, inserted on the corolla tube and alternating with its lobes, short laments and long anthers, has a single style with wide and thick stigma.
